Chamis Muschait ( Arabic خميس مشيط, DMG Ḫamīs Mušaiṭ ; also Khamis Mushayt ) is a city in the southwest of Saudi Arabia in the province of Asir . In 2004 the city had 372,000 inhabitants . It is in the Moscow time zone .

The place name has been known since the 1760s. Chamis , the Arabic word for Thursday , refers to the weekly market held here on Thursdays . The city's population has grown dramatically since the 1970s.
