Abdulfattah Tawfiq Asiri ( Arabic عبد الفتاح توفيق عسيري, DMG ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ Taufīq ʿAsīrī ; * February 26, 1994 in Khamis Muschait ) is a Saudi Arabian soccer player who has been under contract with the first division club al-Ahli SC since August 2016 . The flexible offensive player has been the Saudi Arabian national player since December 2013 .

Career

Asiri comes from the well-known youth department of the Saudi Arabian club Hetten FC , which is known nationwide for the quality of its youth academy. For the 2012/13 season he moved to the first division Ittihad FC . On January 25, 2013 (17th matchday) he made his debut in a 2-0 away win against al-Faisaly FC in the top Saudi Arabian league when he was on the field from the start. Five days later, he scored for his club for the first time in a 2-2 draw against Hajer FC . He ended the season with nine league appearances, in which he started in seven and scored two goals. In May 2013 he won the King Cup with Ittihad .

In the following season 2013/14 he was used in six league games and scored one goal. It was not until the 2014/15 season that he made his breakthrough as a regular player. He played 24 league games in which he netted three goals. He retained this status in the coming 2015/16 season . On April 24, 2016 (24th matchday), he scored the first brace of his career in a 5-0 away win against Hajer FC.

On August 17, 2016, Abdulfattah Asiri moved to league rivals al-Ahli SC , where he signed a four-year contract. For his new club he made his debut on September 18 (3rd matchday) in the 2: 3 away defeat against the al-Shabab Club . As a result, he quickly rose to become a regular player. On November 4 (8th matchday) he met for the first time for al-Ahli in a 4-0 home win against the al-Wehda Club . In this 2016/17 season he made 20 league games and scored six goals.

In the following 2017/18 season, he retained his status in the starting lineup and played 19 league games in which he scored a goal. He ended the 2018/19 season with six goals in 19 games.

National team

On December 28, 2013, he made his debut in the 0-0 draw in the friendly against Palestine for the Saudi Arabian national team , where he was on the field from the start. On October 10, 2019, he scored his first two goals in a 3-0 home win against Singapore in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup .
