useful information
- In 2003, Anneli Jäätteenmäki was the first woman to be elected Prime Minister of Finland.
- So far, only six governments have been in office for four years:
- Kivimäki cabinet (1932–1936)
- Sorsa IV cabinet (1983–1987)
- Holkeri cabinet (1987–1991)
- Cabinet Aho (1991–1995)
- Cabinet Lipponen I (1995–1999)
- Lipponen II cabinet (1999–2003)
- The Sipilä cabinet resigned on March 8, 2019 because of the failed health reform, just under a month before the 2019 parliamentary election .
Toivo Kivimäki even managed to do this with a minority government.
- The Hackzell transitional cabinet only held office for 45 days. Annelli Jäätteenmäki led the shortest term of office of a fixed government with 69 days.
- Urho Kekkonen was Prime Minister of five different governments between 1950 and 1956 before he was elected President .
- Almost 26 years after the end of his first term, Juho Kusti Paasikivi became Prime Minister for the second time in 1944.
- Four parties have only provided the Prime Minister once: The Young Finnish Party (Svinhufvud) and the Finnish Party (Paasikivi), both of which only existed until 1918, the Democratic Union of the Finnish People (Pekkala) and the Swedish People's Party (Törngren).
- The last minority government was led by Martti Miettunen in 1976/77. Before that, there had been 18 minority governments, and eight transitional governments were in office.
- The prime minister earns as much as the speaker of parliament. In May 2011 that was 11,675 euros.
