Cabinet Kekkonen IV
The Kekkonen IV cabinet was the 36th government cabinet in Finnish history . It was in office from July 9, 1953 to November 17, 1953 (132 days).
In June 1953 Prime Minister Urho Kekkonen of the Landbund announced his resignation due to persistent differences between the Landbund and the Social Democrats over a cost-cutting program that was supposed to prevent an impending recession. President Juho Kusti Paasikivi then commissioned Kekkonen to form a minority government. Kekkonen formed a new government with the Swedish People's Party in the summer of 1953, but it was only able to hold office for four more months until mid-November. It was replaced by a transitional government under Sakari Tuomioja . In March 1954, new elections were finally held.
