Cabinet Kekkonen II

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kekkonen II cabinet was the 34th government cabinet in Finnish history . It was in office from January 17, 1951 to September 20, 1951 (247 days).

After the parliamentary elections in Finland in 1948 , the Social Democrat Karl-August Fagerholm and Urho Kekkonen from the Landbund led two short-lived minority governments. At the end of 1950 a solution finally emerged between the two strongest parties in parliament, the Social Democratic Party and the Landbund, to form a government together. On January 17, 1951, the Kekkonen II government was sworn in. In addition to ministers from the Landbund and the Social Democratic Party, there was also a politician from the National Progress Party and one from the Swedish People's Party.

New elections were held on July 2 and 3, 1951, and a new government was sworn in on September 20, 1951 (Kekkonen III cabinet).
