Mari Kiviniemi
Mari Johanna Kiviniemi (born September 27, 1968 in Seinäjoki ) is a Finnish politician ( center ) who was Prime Minister of Finland from June 22, 2010 to June 22, 2011 . Since August 2014 she has been Deputy Secretary General of the OECD .
Life
Mari Kiviniemi was born to a farmer in the small town of Seinäjoki in western Finland. From 1985 to 1986 she spent a year as an exchange student in Scheeßel , Lower Saxony , where she attended the oak school. In 1988 she began her studies at the University of Helsinki .
Kiviniemi is the mother of two children.

Mari Kiviniemi has been a member of parliament since 1995. From 2005 she held the post of Minister for Foreign Trade and Development in the Government of Finland and from 2006 that of Minister for Public Administration and Local Affairs. In June 2010 she was elected chairman of the Center Party for two years with 1,357: 1035 votes in a vote against Minister of Economic Affairs Mauri Pekkarinen . On June 22nd she succeeded Matti Vanhanen in the office of the Finnish Prime Minister ( Finnish Pääministeri , Swedish State Minister ). After Anneli Jäätteenmäki (2003), she is the country's second female head of government. Mari Kiviniemi led a government made up of her party, the National Gathering Party, the Green Federation and the Swedish People's Party , which was formed after the 2007 general election , until June 2011. In the 2011 general election , her party fell mainly because of the landslide of the True Finns from first to fourth place, which is why it was reluctant to take part in coalition negotiations led by the rallying party and ultimately led the party into the opposition, while the rallying party formed a government with five other predominantly left-wing parties.
Internal disputes at the center had increased in 2012, with the result that Kiviniemi announced in April that he would not be available again for the party chairmanship, citing poor poll numbers for the party. There is mainly disagreement on the EU and the euro . At the same time, parts of the party are pressing for a return to their old role as representing the interests of the agriculturally structured rural areas.
In October 2015, Mari Kiviniemi was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Kiviniemi is thus recognized for her constant promotion of German-Finnish relations in her political offices. a. as chairman of the Finnish-German parliamentary group.
