Kulanu ( Hebrew כולנו, We All ) was a party in Israel that was classified as part of the political center . Her focus was on economic issues such as lowering the cost of living , consumer protection and the expansion of the welfare state for the Israeli middle class. The party was founded by Moshe Kachlon as a secession from Likud ; At the end of July 2019, Kulanu was again absorbed into the Likud.

history

It was founded in November 2014 by the ex- Likud member and former communications and welfare minister, Moshe Kachlon .

General election 2015

Polls predicted a joint electoral list with the Yesh Atid party of 24 seats, which would have become the strongest force ahead of Likud and Avoda (who each got 21 in the poll); however, both Kachlon and Yair Lapid , party leader of Yesch Atid, ruled this out. Likud Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered Moshe Kachlon the post of finance minister if he rejoined Likud; however, he refused.

In the national parliamentary election on March 17, 2015, Kulanu won 10 seats. In the following weeks, Netanyahu's Likud, the United Torah-Judaism party alliance and Kulanu began coalition negotiations that were concluded in late April 2015. After Schas and HaBajit haJehudi also joined the coalition, it had a narrow majority of 61 seats in the Knesset. With exactly this majority, the government formed from these parties was confirmed by the Knesset on May 14, 2015. Kulanu provided two ministers: Moshe Kachlon became finance minister, and Joaw Galant took over the building ministry.

Political positions

Politically, Kulanu stands between the Likud and the Avoda . The central concern of the party is to lower the cost of living in Israel. It shares this goal with the Yesh Atid party, which is also in the center of politics . Regarding the Middle East conflict , Moshe Kachlon said before the 2015 parliamentary elections that he saw no possibility of reaching a peace agreement with the Palestinians in the foreseeable future and that he would approve the further construction of settlements . Israel currently has no partner for Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. The Palestinians would have to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, agree to a united Jerusalem, abandon the refugee issue and say goodbye to the idea of a return to the 1967 borders. Berhard Reich and David H. Goldberg (2016) classify the party as centrist in their Historical Dictionary of Israel .
