Sylhet ( English ; Sylheti : সিলট , Silaṭ , Silot ; Bengali : সিলেট , Sileṭ , Silet ; formerly শ্রীহট্ট , Śrīhaṭṭa , Shrihatta ) is a city in the Asian state of Bangladesh . It is the capital of the administrative region of the same name Sylhet in the north-east of the country and currently (2011) has a population of 479,837.
