Plains All American Pipeline ( PAA ) is an American petroleum company based in Houston . The company specializes in the transport, storage and sale of oil and natural gas . The company's shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

history

The company was founded in 1981 as Plains Resources and at that time was primarily active in the field of exploration for oil and natural gas deposits. In the early 1990s, the focus was on storing and transporting crude oil. In 1998 Plains Resources acquired All American Pipeline and went public. With the capital gained, the new company bought numerous competitors, including Scurlock Permian and Pacific Energy Partners. PAAP also acquired pipelines from Murphy Oil , Shell Pipeline Company, British Petroleum and PAA / Vulcan Natural Gas Storage.

Pipelines

The Plains All American Pipeline network runs from Alberta and Saskatchewan through Fort Laramie, Wyoming, Cushing, Oklahoma and Midland, Texas to Houston and Corpus Christi . Another line runs from St James (Louisiana) and Mobile (Alabam) to Patoka (Illinois).
