Army of Conquest (including Jaish al-Fatah , Arabic جيش الفتح Jaish al-Fath , DMG Ǧaiš al-Fatḥ  'Army of Conquest / Army of Victory') is a military alliance in the civil war in Syria , which is composed of a number of Syrian - Islamist rebel groups. It declared its establishment on March 24, 2015. The primary goal of this alliance is the overthrow of the government of Bashar al-Assad .

Development since the foundation of the alliance

On March 23, Allianz launched an offensive and captured the capital of the Idlib governorate of the same name on April 25, 2015 in the battle for Idlib 2015 .

At the end of April 2015, Jaish Al-Fatah started another offensive in the vicinity of the city of Jisr el-Shughur and captured this strategically important city on April 28, 2015 in cooperation with the Free Syrian Army .

On May 28, 2015, the city of Ariha and the surrounding villages were completely conquered by the rebel alliance within just 3 hours , according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights .

The Army of Conquest was the opinion of the Atlantic Council as one of the Turkey -run project, as part of a new strategy with Saudi Arabia was devised in 2015 to the overthrow of President Assad after the United States wanted to support any Islamist groups.

The Jaish al-Fatah coalition is modeled on the southern front of the Free Syrian Army and, like this, is primarily intended to fight the Assad government. The Ahrar al-Sham are the largest rebel group within Jaish al-Fatah, there are also small battalions of the Muslim Brotherhood (Syria) and the coalition consists of parts of the Al-Nusra Front . The alliance cooperates with the Free Syrian Army and is subordinate to the high command of the Islamic Front .

Jaish al-Fatah is mainly active in Idlib Governorate and in small parts in Hama Governorate and Latakia Governorate .
