The Torch (also The Marina Torch ; Engl., "The Torch") is a skyscraper in Dubai with a height of 352 meters.

Construction of the building began in 2005 and was completed in spring 2011. In February 2011, the last part of the top of the skyscraper was installed, reaching the final height of 352 meters. The building in Dubai Marina is next to the Princess Tower . 676 residential apartments are set up on the tower's 86 floors. The Torch is thus the seventh-highest residential skyscraper in the world , was even the highest immediately after completion and exceeded the 323-meter-high Q1 Tower in the Australian Gold Coast, but was itself again in January 2012 by the 23 Marina (393 meters) also located in Dubai replaced.

The slender, rising skyscraper consists of a reinforced concrete structure and ends with a rounded crown above the last floor of the apartment at a height of 300 meters.

Fire 2015

On February 21, 2015 at around 2 a.m. local time, a fire broke out on the 52nd floor, which quickly spread to the 70th floor, fanned by strong winds. After numerous previous false alarms, the alarm only sounded in the building this time after a resident, who had dialed the emergency number and rang the bell of neighbors' doors, had walked down to the 20th floor and then manually pressed an alarm button. The alarm was therefore not automatically triggered by fire detectors. Several hundred residents were brought to safety. As parts of the facade kept falling down, streets in the vicinity of the building were blocked. At around 5 a.m. local time, the fire was extinguished. There were injuries from smoke gas , but no deaths. To be on the safe side, neighboring buildings were also evacuated. Not all residents were able to return to the building immediately after the fire. Only the apartments up to the 20th floor were accessible.

Fire 2017

On August 3, 2017, another fire broke out in the building. According to the Dubai police, the fire started on the 9th floor and quickly spread to other floors. According to civil defense, the fire was under control at 3:30 a.m. local time. There were no injuries or deaths.
