The article List of Tallest Buildings in Dubai includes lists of skyscrapers in Dubai ( UAE ) compiled from different points of view: a general list of all buildings built and under construction, and a list of tallest planned skyscrapers. For this purpose, some basic building data are listed in the tables.

The city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has developed into one of the most important metropolises in high-rise construction, especially since the turn of the millennium, comparable to New York City or Hong Kong . The city's first major project was the Burj Al Arab , which in 1999 was not only the tallest building in the city at 321 meters, but also the tallest hotel until 2007 (a title that he had to surrender to the Rose Tower , which is also located in Dubai ). In addition, it became a symbol of Dubai due to its remarkable architecture (the building also stands on an artificially constructed island). Just one year later, in 2000, the two Emirates Towers were completed. The first tower, the Emirates Office Tower, took on the rank of the tallest building in the city on the Persian Gulf for another nine years . Its height is 355 meters. In 2009, the 363-meter-high Almas Tower briefly won the title of tallest skyscraper in Dubai. Work on the Burj Khalifa began back in 2004 (during the Burj Dubai construction phase ) and was completed in 2010. With a height of 828 meters, it is not only by far the tallest building in the city, but also the tallest building (and structure) in the world by a clear margin . Currently (as of 2014) there are still a number of other buildings under construction in Dubai (more than ten projects will be higher than 300 meters), such as the Princess Tower (414 meters), Dream Dubai Marina (432 meters) and the 376 meters tall Emirates Park Towers . At 516 meters, the Pentominium will not only be the second tallest building in the city after its completion (previously planned for 2014), but also the tallest residential building in the world . For economic reasons, however, work has been suspended since August 2011.

Due to the international economic crisis , however, some larger projects have also been canceled or construction has been stopped. At the end of 2008, the construction of the Nakheel Tower began , which, with a height of more than 1,000 meters, would have exceeded the Burj Khalifa as the tallest structure on earth. However, the work was stopped again at the beginning of 2009, since further construction seems unlikely. The construction work on Burj Al Alam, whose projected height was 510 meters, was stopped and finally canceled completely in 2013. The interrupted construction of the 400 meter high Lighthouse Tower had to be completely canceled in mid-2010.
