Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina ( Arabic مرسى دبي, DMG Marsā Dubayy ) is a district in Dubai , United Arab Emirates , about 25 kilometers southwest of the city center.

In the final stage (depending on the delimitation), the district is to accommodate between 75,000 and 150,000 people and contain around 200 skyscrapers and high-rise buildings. The approximately 4 square kilometers - including the water surface - large complex has been connected to the Dubai Metro with two stations since spring 2010 .

Dubai Marina is located on Interchange 5. The Jumeirah Beach Residence , one of the largest apartment and holiday resorts in the world with almost 40 high-rise buildings, belongs to the district .

The Dubai Marina takes its name from an almost four-kilometer-long, man-made canal, on whose curved bank promenades, in addition to a large marina and a few smaller boat moorings, numerous restaurants, cafes and shops as well as a shopping center with around 120,000 square meters of retail space are set up.

Especially in the southern section of the beach in Dubai Marina, the changed course of the coast and the resulting new flow conditions lead to problems with coastal erosion . In a relatively short time, several meters of the beach were washed into the sea. A higher covering of the bank with heavy rocks should prevent further erosion of material.

On November 8, 2007, one of the bridges under construction to the inner Dubai Marina collapsed, killing 15 people. The cause of the collapse is still unclear.
