Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) is a district of Dubai , United Arab Emirates . It is located on a 2.7-kilometer-long strip of land of 135 hectares directly opposite the Dubai Marina and north of the Jumeirah Islands and Emirates Hills housing developments between Junctions 5 and 6 of Sheikh Zayed Road .

history

Planned and largely under construction since 2005. 79 high-rises are already partly finished, arranged as residential and office high-rises as well as for retail businesses in 23 building clusters of three or four towers each. The cluster formation was chosen so that the individual houses can be better identified with the extraordinarily high density of objects. The name "Lake Towers" is obvious because the entire area is crossed in the middle by three larger and several small artificial lakes, which - on average around 100 m wide and 3 m deep - cover a total of 25.5 hectares . The center of the complex, which is laid out with lavish green spaces, is raised on a small island by the 360 m high Almas Tower . The remaining high-rise buildings have between 35 and 45 floors, i.e. that is, they are about 130-200 m high.

Local public transport has been carried by two stops on the Dubai Metro since spring 2010 .

The infrastructure of this quarter includes shops and children's playgrounds as well as a mosque. Jumeirah Lakes Towers is a "mixed-use free zone". That is, there are both apartments and offices in a free zone . The tallest of the 79 skyscrapers, the Almas Tower , houses the Dubai Diamond Exchange and the Dubai Multi Commodities Center, which is intended to be a center for trading in gold , diamonds , oil, gas and other raw materials.

Completion of the Jumeirah Lakes Towers

In December 2006 the Saba Tower was opened as the first high-rise. In April 2011, 80% of the skyscrapers in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers were completed.

Clusters

The Jumeirah Lake Towers were built in so-called clusters. There are 26 clusters named from A to Z. There are three high-rise buildings in each cluster.
