Jean-Luc Dehaene
August 7, 1940 in Montpellier , France , † May 15, 2014 in Quimper , France) was a Belgian Christian-social politician ( CD&V ), prime minister , lawyer and economist . From 2004 he was a member of the European Parliament , before that he was Belgian Prime Minister from 1992 to 1999.

Dehaene was 1981 Minister of Social Affairs and Institutional Reform in the fifth Cabinet of Wilfried Martens appointed. In 1988 he changed to the post of Minister of Transport as the successor to Herman De Croo . After Martens' resignation, he moved as Prime Minister on March 7, 1992 to the head of the conservative Belgian government, which was confirmed in the parliamentary elections in 1995.
