Herman De Croo

Herman Francies Joseph De Croo (born August 12, 1937 in Opbrakel ) is a Belgian politician and a confidante of King Albert II. He finished his studies in 1961 at the Université Libre de Bruxelles . From 1999 to 2007 he was President of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies ; previously he was a member of the Belgian Senate . He is the current Mayor of Brakel .

De Croo was elected a member of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies for the PVV -PLP in 1968. Due to the constant change of government, De Croo was Minister of Transport and Foreign Trade; Minister of Transport, Postal Services, Telegraphy and Telephony; Minister of Education and Minister of Postal Services, Telegraphy, Telephony and Pensions.
