Ian McLagan (born May 12, 1945 in Hounslow , Middlesex , England ; † December 3, 2014 in Austin , Texas ) was a British rock musician who was best known as the keyboardist for the bands Small Faces and Faces .

Before joining the Small Faces in 1965, McLagan had played with various bands, including Boz & the Boz People .

McLagan released his debut album Troublemaker in 1979, on which he was supported by Jim Keltner , Bobby Keys , Keith Richards , Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood , among others , followed by Bump in the Night (1980). Since neither were particularly successful, McLagan concentrated on his work as a studio and accompanist, including Jackson Browne , Joe Cocker , Bob Dylan , Melissa Etheridge , Bonnie Raitt , the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen . From 1997 he was a member of Billy Bragg's backing band The Blokes .

In 2000 McLagan's album Best of British was released under the name Ian "Mac" McLagan & the Bump Band. In the same year he published his autobiography All the Rage .

Ian McLagan married Kim Kerrigan , ex-wife of Who drummer Keith Moon , in 1978 . In 1994 they moved to Texas (USA). Kim McLagan was killed in a car accident in Travis County, Texas in 2006 at the age of 57 . Ian McLagan died on December 3, 2014 at the age of 69 in a hospital in Austin, Texas, from complications from a stroke he had suffered the day before .
