Helmut Klöpsch (born December 4, 1939 in Schönwald , Tost-Gleiwitz district ) is a former German biathlete .

Helmut Klöpsch started for SG Dynamo Zinnwald . He took part in his first world championship as part of the 1962 biathlon world championship in Hämeenlinna and was 13th of the individual. 1963 followed in Seefeld in Tyrol an 18th place. The 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , where Klöpsch finished 31st, became the highlight of his career . Until the reunification in 1990, it was the last games in which the GDR and FRG formed a team, at world championships Klöpsch always competed for the GDR. The last major event was the Biathlon World Championships in 1967 in Altenberg, in which he reached 16th place.

Nationally Klöpsch won the GDR championships in biathlon 1963 in Klingenthal in the individual silver behind Hans-Dieter Riechel and won the title in the military patrol with Riechel, Dieter Ritter and Heinz Kluge . In 1965 he and Kluge, Horst Koschka and Dieter Speer were runner-up in the military patrol behind the representation of ASK Vorwärts Oberhof . In 1967 Klöpsch was again runner-up in the individual, this time behind Egon Schnabel and relay champion with Hansjörg Knauthe , Claus Schubert and Horst Koschka. He won his last title at the GDR championships in biathlon in 1968 , where he was relay champion with Schubert, Koschka and Speer. In 1963 he won the GDR runner-up in cross-country skiing with Kluge, Riechel and Ritter.
