Steffen Hauswald (born November 28, 1963 ) is a former German biathlete and current biathlon trainer.

Steffen Hauswald, who competed for SG Dynamo Zinnwald while he was active , took part in the Junior World Championships for the GDR in 1983. He ran for the GDR World Cup team for four years, but was always overshadowed by more successful biathletes such as Frank-Peter Roetsch , Frank Ullrich or André Sehmisch . He had achieved his greater successes nationally. In 1984 he was third with the second season of Zinnwald in the GDR championships, in 1985 he won the bronze medal behind Roetsch and Sehmisch in the sprint competition. In 1986 and 1987 a third place was added with the second season of the tin forests. After his active career, Hauswald studied sports pedagogy at the University of Leipzig and completed his studies as a certified sports teacher. He then obtained all kinds of coaching certificates and in 1993 switched to Baden-Württemberg as a regional coach and at the same time became a coach at the ski boarding school in Furtwangen . Under his leadership, Baden-Württemberg developed into one of the German biathlon strongholds. Among others he looked after Simon Schempp and Benedikt Doll , but the women were even more successful. With Kathrin Hitzer and Simone Denkinger he trained two world-class athletes. In 2008, Hauswald married Denkinger, who had been active under the Hauswald name until the end of her career. In 2008 he was also named biathlon trainer of the year by the German Ski Association . In 2010 he moved to the Swiss Ski Association Swiss-Ski as the national biathlete trainer , becoming Manfred Geyer’s successor . On January 14, 2013, he announced his retirement at the end of the season.
