Thomas Meisinger (born April 29, 1957 ) is a former German ski jumper who started for the GDR national team.

Career

Meisinger, who started for SC Dynamo Klingenthal , had his first success at the Four Hills Tournament in 1976/77 . After rank 12 on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf , he landed in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 11th place. On the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck he reached the 10th place, before he just missed his first podium place in Bischofshofen on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in fourth. In the tour's overall standings, he came in sixth.

In February 1977 at the GDR ski championships in 1977 in Oberwiesenthal , he won gold on the large hill and silver on the normal hill.

On March 13, 1977 he achieved the last hill record with 98.5 meters on the legendary Holmenkollbakken in Oslo before it was rebuilt. Shortly afterwards, he won the Czech Marusarzówna Memorial in 1977. Meisinger also won the 1978 Swiss Spring Tour.

With the start of the Four Hills Tournament 1979/80 he made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup . With 13th place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, he already won his first points in his second World Cup. He also scored points in sixth place in Bischofshofen. At the end of the season he achieved this rank again at Holmenkollen in Oslo . In the overall World Cup ranking he reached 38th place with a total of 23 points.

At the 1980 GDR ski championships in Klingenthal , he won the silver medal on the large hill behind Henry Glaß .

In his last season in 1980/81 he started again as part of the Four Hills Tournament 1980/81 , but was unable to build on the success of the previous year. Meisinger finished the tour 12th overall and the World Cup season 57th overall.

Today Thomas Meisinger is employed by the Vogtland Ski Club Klingenthal and is also responsible for the preparation of the World Cup facilities in the Vogtland Arena .
