Manfred Queck (born August 10, 1941 in Johanngeorgenstadt ; † July 1, 1977 there ) was a German ski jumper .

Career

Queck was a member of the SC Dynamo Klingenthal and was trained by Herbert Leonhardt . At the Four Hills Tournament 1966/67 he surprised with a fifth place in the New Year's competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , after jumping to 12th place in Oberstdorf . After he did not get beyond 43rd place in Innsbruck , he landed again in tenth place in Bischofshofen . A year later at the Four Hills Tournament in 1967/68 he jumped again to a good seventh place in Oberstdorf, but had to admit defeat to the strong field of participants in Garmisch and Innsbruck. In Bischofshofen he was again seventh.

In the fourth Olympic qualification of the GDR ski jumpers on the Fichtelbergschanze in Oberwiesenthal , he emerged as the winner on January 18, 1968 with 79 and 82 meters. Manfred Queck then took part in the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble for the GDR . On the normal hill he finished 14th, on the large hill he reached fourth place and barely missed a medal. On February 29, 1968 he joined the XX. GDR ski championships in the Nordic disciplines and won the title on the normal hill.

In the Four Hills Tournament 1968/69 reached after a fifth place in Oberstdorf only mediocre places in the three other competitions. In the end he reached 19th place in the tour's overall ranking. His last international jumping competition was on December 30, 1969 in Oberstdorf, where he once again achieved second place and a podium place. He did not participate in the other jumps of the Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 .

His grave is in the cemetery in Johanngeorgenstadt.
