Eidhammer made his ski flying World Cup debut on February 20, 1983 in Vikersund, Norway . He surprisingly finished the competition in 10th place. At the Junior World Championships in 1983 in Kuopio , Finland , he won the silver medal on the normal hill. After further jumping in the World Cup, he started at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1984 in Engelberg, Switzerland in team jumping and finished sixth with the Norwegian team. Because of this result, Eidhammer was on the team for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . There he was able to achieve 18th place in the individual competition on the normal hill. In the same year he also reached the 3rd and best individual place in a World Cup competition in the World Cup competition on the Holmenkollen in Oslo . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , he was 37th on the normal hill, 26th on the large hill and was able to win 2nd place with the team and thus the silver medal in the team competition. After another season with changing results, Eidhammer was again nominated for the team for the Olympic Games. He jumped in all three disciplines at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and was 19th on the normal hill, 17th on the large hill and achieved 3rd place with the team and thus the bronze medal. After the following season was rather unsuccessful, Eidhammer ended his active jumping career after jumping on December 10, 1989 in Lake Placid .
