Oleksandr Anatolijowytsch Uschkalenko ( Ukrainian Олександр Анатолійович Ушкаленко ; born August 2, 1964 in Sumy , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Soviet - Ukrainian cross-country skier .

Career

Uschkalenko had his first international successes at the Junior World Ski Championships in 1983 in Kuopio . There he won over 15 km and the gold medal with the relay. In the following year he won the bronze medal over 15 km and the gold medal with the relay at the Junior World Ski Championships in Trondheim . In March 1984 he started in Murmansk for the first time in the World Cup and achieved 16th place over 15 km and thus achieved his best individual placement in the World Cup. In March 1987, he finished second in the relay in Falun . His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim in 1997 were 36th place in the pursuit race and 16th place in the relay. He completed his last international competitions at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano . There he ran to 57th place over 50 km freestyle and 48th place over 30 km classic.
