Rico Parpan (born April 14, 1979 ) is a former Swiss ski jumper .

Career

Parpan, who started for the Ski Club Alpina St. Moritz, jumped for the first time in the 1994/95 season in the Continental Cup (COC). However, his first two seasons were unsuccessful. With just 2 COC points each, he landed 127th place in the overall COC ranking in both years. On January 14, 1996, he competed in his first ski jumping World Cup . At the end of the jumping in Engelberg he finished 47th. A year later he also jumped in Engelberg and this time came 44th and 43rd place. At the ski flying world championship in 1998 in Oberstdorf Parpan was 45. For the 1998/1999 World Cup season he was part of the Swiss squad for the first time. In the first competition in Chamonix , France , however, he did not get past 49th and penultimate place. A week later on December 12, 1998, however, he was able to win World Cup points for the first time in Oberhof with 27th place. Also in January in Sapporo , he again won World Cup points in 23rd place. It was also the highest single placement in his career. After rather unsuccessful jumping, he finished the season in 74th place in the overall World Cup ranking. In the Continental Cup he could not achieve any positive results and only came in 127th place in the overall season 1999/2000. On March 18, 2000, he jumped at the World Cup team flying in Planica , where he reached 9th place together with Marco Steinauer , Sylvain Freiholz and Bruno Reuteler , his last international competition.
