Vladimir Petrovich Wilissow (born April 19, 1976 in Novokuznetsk ) is a former Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Wilissow, who won gold with the Russian cross-country relay at the Junior World Championships in Asiago, Italy in 1996 , made his debut in the World Cup in Beitostølen in November 1997 , where he finished 55th over 10 km classic. He got his first World Cup points in March 1998 in Lahti with 29th place over 30 km classic. In the 1998/99 season he finished in the top ten four times in the individual World Cup and at the end of the season he finished 21st in the overall World Cup and 12th in the long distance World Cup. He achieved his first podium place in Lahti with second place over 15 km classic. With the relay he came third in Falun and second in Oslo . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein , he finished ninth over 30 km freestyle and seventh place with the relay and over 50 km classic. In the following season he achieved four top ten placements in the World Cup, including third place in the 30 km mass start race in Lahti and thus achieved 25th place in the overall World Cup and eighth place in the long distance World Cup at the end of the season. In January 2000 he became the Russian champion over 30 km. After four results outside the points at the beginning of the 2000/01 season, he reached nine points in the further course of the season. He was also third in the season in Santa Caterina Valfurva and first in Falun. His best results at the 2001 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti were seventh place over 50 km freestyle and fourth place with the relay. He finished the season in 28th place in the overall World Cup. At the beginning of the following season he took third place in Kuopio and second place with the relay in Davos . His best placement of the season in the World Cup singles was 18th place in the skiathlon in Val di Fiemme and over 15 km classic in Davos. At the season highlight, the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he finished 36th in the skiathlon and 15th in the 50 km classic and 30 km mass start races. His best World Cup results in the 2002/03 season were sixth in the 10 km freestyle in Kavgolovo and in Otepää in the 30 km mass start race. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme , he achieved 35th place in the skiathlon, 17th place over 50 km freestyle and 13th place in the 30 km mass start race. In the 2003/04 season he made it into the points 11 times in the World Cup singles and finished 47th in the overall World Cup. His best individual placement was eighth in the Falun ski athlon. He was also third in the relay in Otepää. In his last World Cup season 2004/05 he only achieved one World Cup points in eight individual participations. From 2005 until his last active season in 2008/09, he took part in FIS races and the Eastern Europe Cup . He mostly achieved placements outside of the points.
