Fahndung Deutschland was the title of a German live television series broadcast by the private broadcaster Sat.1 in 2016 . It was, also by its own account, the first (factory) daily wanted program on German television. The series was produced by Maz & More TV Produktion in Berlin, which also produces the breakfast television for Sat.1. The public service counterpart to the series is, for example, file number XY ... unresolved on ZDF , from 1997 to 2000 Sat.1 tried to tie in with this format with a wanted man's file .

format

As part of the national public search, unexplained missing persons cases and criminal offenses, some of which are up-to-date, should be cleared up with the help of information from the audience. The cases were illustrated for the audience with the help of reconstructions. In addition, real video recordings from the police, intelligence services and amateur recordings of directly involved witnesses were used. The range of cases presented included petty offenses (e.g. shoplifting ), but also more serious criminal cases such as homicides advertised as wanted, missing persons, burglaries and sexual assault. In some cases, reporters reported from the respective crime scenes and spoke with witnesses and family members of the victims.

In addition, concrete cases were used to demonstrate how courageous intervention helps to prevent criminal offenses and to turn criminals over to the police. The spectators were able to bring information to the responsible police stations by telephone.

Rubrics

  • Prevention : The viewers were informed about current fraud methods used by criminals and dangerous situations and were informed about appropriate behavior in such situations.
  • Compact : Brief searches and developments in previously presented cases were presented.

Search Germany special

On August 24, 2016, a Fahndung Deutschland Spezial was broadcast for the first time in prime time on Sat.1. Moderated by Karen Heinrichs , one of the most sensational missing persons cases of the last 20 years was discussed.

Charisma

The decisive factor for the introduction of Fahndung Deutschland was the afternoon slot that was drawn due to the unsatisfactory viewing figures for Sat.1. In general, the broadcast took place on working days from 7:00 p.m. to 7:55 p.m. on Sat.1. Initially, it was planned to test the series for a total of five weeks from the first broadcast in early May 2016 to the European Football Championship in 2016 . Due to the initially extremely satisfactory audience ratings , Sat.1 decided to extend the broadcast indefinitely. On July 13, 2016, Fahndung Germany set a new record with a good 9.8 percent market share .

The last episode aired on September 23, 2016.
