The Alsace-Lorraine D 4 were tender steam locomotives that were employed by the Imperial General Directorate of Railways in Alsace-Lorraine from 1874 .

history

A total of 15 locomotives were procured from this class , which resembled the passenger locomotives of the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft . They were designed and ordered by machine master Moritz Stambke .

technology

The saddle tank above the long boiler and the front Bissel axis in particular shaped the appearance. The steam dome was located on the front part of the long boiler. The Stephenson control was outside. The locomotives were intended in particular for tight curve radii, as the overhanging standing boiler and the saddle tank created a high friction weight.

Alsace-Lorraine T 2

From 1906 the series was renamed the Alsace-Lorraine T 2 . A converted T 2.1 was also added to this series .
