The standing boiler is part of a steam locomotive .

Together with the fire box, it forms the rear boiler . The fire hole and fire door are located in a section of the back wall of the standing boiler . The controls required to operate the steam locomotive boiler are attached to the rear wall of the standing boiler . The front wall of the standing boiler ends in a semi-cylindrical part and, together with the standing boiler shell, forms a cylinder into which the long boiler is inserted. The fire box wall and the boiler shell are connected by side studs and ceiling studs. Above the fire box, cross anchors protect the standing boiler against bending open to the side. At the bottom, the standing boiler is closed off by a floor ring.
