Removed rear boiler of a steam locomotive

The rear boiler is part of the boiler of a steam locomotive .

It consists of the standing kettle and the fire box . The standing kettle is usually made up of the front wall of the standing kettle, the rear wall of the standing kettle and the casing of the standing kettle riveted or welded together. The front wall of the standing boiler ends in a semi-cylindrical part and, together with the standing boiler shell, forms a cylinder to which the long boiler is attached.
In older locomotives, the jacket does not consist of one piece, but rather of the standing boiler cover and the side walls of the standing boiler. In the welded boiler of the standard locomotives from 1950, a longer half cylinder is attached to the front wall of the standing boiler; together with the lengthened standing boiler ceiling, it forms the cylindrical space that houses the combustion chamber .
