Career

In Sri Lanka , born Vogel, who took the SC Einsiedeln and Werner Küttel was trained, made his international debut on 12 January 1997 as part of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Engelberg . But after he couldn't convince as 48, he missed a top placement in individual and team jumping as seventh at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Canmore in 1997 , which would have earned him a permanent place in the national team. It then took three years to return to the World Cup in Engelberg. Also this time he missed the points as 39th. Also in Sapporo and Hakuba missed a good placement in all individual competitions, but was able to jump to fifth place with the team in the team competition. Previously, he was unsuccessful at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1998 in St. Moritz and at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Saalfelden in 1999 , but only finished 57th and 51st.

Another year later he took part as a team member at the World Cup in Willingen and finished ninth with the team. A few weeks later, Vogel started at the 2001 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . He reached rank 42 on the normal hill. In the team competition on the normal hill, he finished ninth with the team as before on the large hill.

For the 2001/02 season he again received no permanent World Cup starting place. As in the two years before, it started in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . It took until January 2002 for Vogel to jump back into the points for the first time in Lauscha . After he also won points in both competitions in Iron Mountain , he finished the season with 26 points in 187th place overall.

At the beginning of the 2002/03 season he was given another starting place in Engelberg for the World Cup jumping on the large hill. Vogel ended up in 50th place and thus again outside of the points. He then stayed in the Continental Cup. In February 2002 he started again in the World Cup in Willingen, but remained unlucky again as 46th and 43rd. It was his last two starts in the World Cup. In the Continental Cup he finished the 2002/03 season in 102nd place overall, which means he was able to improve a little compared to the previous year.

In the 2003/04 season he achieved his best placings with 18th place at the start of the season in St. Moritz and Iron Mountain and at the end of the season, which was mixed for Vogel, he reached 83rd place overall. At the 2004 Swiss Ski Jumping Championships in Hinterzarten , Vogel was tenth in the individual ranking.

In the 2004/05 season started bird with a promising 30th place and a points win in St. Moritz. However, in the second competition in Engelberg, he had to deal with another damper as 62nd. In January 2005 he won several points in Seefeld in Tirol , Planica and Lauscha . At the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships 2005 in Kandersteg in July 2005 , he reached 16th place in individual jumping.

After an unsuccessful summer 2005 and a false start to the 2005/06 season , he ended his international career. He celebrated his final farewell to ski jumping in July 2006 with the team gold at the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships 2006 in his home town of Einsiedeln .
