Urbanc was fourth in the individual competition at the 2002 Junior World Championships in Schonach . With the Slovenian team he won the bronze medal. At the Junior World Championships in 2003 in Sollefteå , Sweden , he was again fourth in the individual jumping and was able to win the silver medal with the team. At the Winter Universiade 2005 in Innsbruck he was sixth in the individual and won the gold medal with the Slovenian student selection. In 2007 he won the World Cup in Zakopane . After the heavy fall of the Czech Jan Mazoch , the jury stopped jumping so that he kept his leading position from the first round. Up to Zakopane he had not been able to achieve any great success in the World Cup, but won the two Continental Cup competitions in Planica in 2006/07 . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 , he reached tenth place with the team in team jumping. In both individual competitions he did not get any top placements. So he was 47th on the normal hill and jumped from the large hill to 33rd place. After the world championship, he started again in the Continental Cup and immediately reached ninth place in Vikersund . He also landed in the points in all summer competitions for the new season. In the Summer Grand Prix 2007 he achieved this only at the two competitions in Japanese Hakuba .
At the start of the winter season, Urbanc needed some time before it again achieved placements in the top 10 in the Continental Cup. It was only in Sapporo in January 2008 that he made it into the top ten again with eighth place. After a rather mediocre summer 2008 and a rather subdued start to the 2008/09 season in the Continental Cup, he was nominated in January 2009 for qualification for the World Cup jumping in Bischofshofen as part of the Four Hills Tournament. However, with 49th place, he clearly missed qualifying for the competition. Urbanc was also nominated for the Ski Flying World Cup on Kulm and with 29th place just qualified for the competition. In both competitions, however, he missed the second round with places 36 and 39. At the World Cup in Zakopane, Urbanc surprised with third place in the qualification, but already retired after the first round in 33rd and thus again without World Cup points. Just one day later, however, he managed to win points in the World Cup for the first time with 22nd place. Despite this increase in performance, Urbanc remained in the Continental Cup squad. He was only occasionally appointed to the A-squad for World Cup events. At the Team World Cup in Willingen , he and the team narrowly missed the podium and ended up fourth. In the 2010/11 season he did not take part in any jumping in the World Cup.
