Danny Queck (born September 17, 1989 in Neuhaus am Rennweg ) is a former German ski jumper . He started for the WSV 08 Lauscha , belonged to the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Oberhof and trained in Hinterzarten .

Career

Danny Queck grew up in Lauscha, Thuringia . As an eight-year-old, he was still equally interested in winter sports and football, but eventually decided to ski jumping. He has been active in the 1908 Lauscha winter sports club since 1996. Here he was promoted by youth coach Jens Greiner-Hiero . On the recommendation of WSV 08 Lauscha, he learned and trained at the Oberhof sports school . His international career started at the age of 14 when he started jumping in international FIS races in 2004 . At the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2004 in Eisenerz , he jumped to fifth place in the individual pupils and in team II. A year later he won the bronze medal in the junior singles at the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2005 in Oberwiesenthal and the gold medal with Team I. After several mediocre years, he was accepted into the team for the Continental Cup in the 2008/09 season , where he was able to surprise with 6th place in the fifth competition on October 11, 2008 in Falun , Sweden , before taking 2nd place a day later . Took place. He was accepted into the national group for the Four Hills Tournament , but did not qualify for the rounds in Oberstdorf or Garmisch-Partenkirchen .

After completing his basic course in the German Armed Forces , he built on his good performance in the Continental Cup on December 8th with a 10th place in Rovaniemi , Finland , in the 2009/10 winter season . He started on January 8, 2010 for the DSV team in the World Cup on the ski jumping hill at Kulm in Tauplitz , Austria , but was unable to qualify for the rounds.

In the Summer Continental Cup of the 2010/11 season he was on July 3 in Kranj , Slovenia , tenth, in the two competitions in Courchevel , France , on July 30 and 31, fifth and third and on September 12 in Lillehammer , Norway as the best German jumper seventh. On December 18, 2010 he reached an 8th place in the Continental Cup in Erzurum , Turkey , followed by a 35th and 33rd place at the Ski Flying World Cup in Harrachov , Czech Republic , on January 8th and 9th, 2011. Am On February 5th he reached 10th place at the Continental Cup in Brotterode . He won his first Continental Cup on December 18, 2011 in Erzurum. As a member of the national group, he narrowly missed qualifying for the New Year's competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with rank 51. On January 15, 2012 he finished ninth , fourth and seventh consecutively at the COC in Titisee-Neustadt and in Oslo , Norway, from February 17 to 19. As the best DSV jumper in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup 2011/12 , he finished 14th overall. He ended the season with a second and a third place at the FIS Cup on March 17 and 18, 2012 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

In preparation for the following season, Danny Queck moved to the Hinterzarten Olympic base . He opened the Ski Jumping Continental Cup 2012/13 with a seventh place on July 1st on the Brunnentalschanze in Stams , Austria. A week later he achieved fifth place in Kranj and again a week later on the future Olympic hill in Sochi , Russia , eighth place. Based on these results, he switched to the Ski Jumping Grand Prix , where he was sixth on the Gorney Gigant in Almaty , Kazakhstan , and on the Aigner-Schanze in Hinzenbach , Austria, and in the end was twelfth overall. Then he started with the A-squad in the World Cup . Danny Queck got his first World Cup points on December 8th and 9th in Sochi with ranks 19 and 26 and in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen with ranks 19 and 23 his first points in a Four Hills Tournament . He was then no longer nominated for the two competitions in Austria. On January 6, 2013 , he finished second in the Continental Cup in Zakopane , Poland , and returned to the World Cup team for qualification on the Adam Małysz ski jump in Wisła , Poland, but was unable to start the competition due to a knee bruise. It was not until mid-February that he took part in competitions again and celebrated his second victory on the Inselbergschanze in Brotterode on February 16, and his third victory in a Continental Cup competition a week later in Wisła. Then he started again in the World Cup, but did not reach any further points. At the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences , he began his bachelor's degree in International Management .

In the summer of 2013 he started in the Ski Jumping Grand Prix in Hinterzarten and Wisła, from September in the Continental Cup , where he finished 9th on December 21st in Lahti , Finland. He qualified as a member of the national group for the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf (rank 37). Back in the COC he reached on January 12th 2014 in Courchevel with a 7th place and from January 16th to 19th in Sapporo , Japan , with a 2nd and an 8th place on the Miyanomori hill and an 8th and 6th place on the Ōkurayama-Schanze single-digit placements and on January 25th and 26th with a 22nd and 15th place his first and only points in the Ski Jumping World Cup 2013/14 . On February 20 and 21, he reached positions 4 and 3 in the COC in Seefeld , Austria, and on March 15 in Nizhny Tagil , Russia, an 8th position and thus overall rank 13 and 10th in the winter ranking. In the Ski Jumping Continental Cup 2014/15 he started with a 5th place in Kranj on July 6th, followed by a victory and a 2nd place in the FIS Cup in Hinterzarten on August 9th and 10th, a 2nd place. Place in the Fis Cup and an 8th place in the COC in Kuopio , Finland, on August 15 and 16, a 2nd and 9th place on August 29 and 30 in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm , Czech Republic , a 9. Place on September 13th in Klingenthal and an 8th place on September 27th, 2014 in Trondheim , Norway. On February 7, 2015, he achieved a 7th place in Brotterode. He finished the season in 7th place overall.

On July 11th, 2015 he won the FIS Cup opening competition in Villach , Austria. He qualified for the Ski Jumping Continental Cup 2015/16 and came 7th in Kuopio on August 22nd. On December 11, 2015, he won another FIS Cup competition in Notodden , Norway, on March 6, in Planica , Slovenia, and on March 12, 2016 in Harrachov , Czech Republic. He won the FIS Cup in 2016 and reached 52nd place in the COC. With the COC competitions in Kranj and Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, he ended his active career in summer 2016.
