Žak Mogel (born March 2, 2001 ) is a Slovenian ski jumper .

Career

Žak Mogel started on December 17 and 18, 2016 for the first time in two competitions in Seefeld in Tyrol in the Alpencup , where he finished 57th and 31st. This was followed by further starts in the Alpencup, where he won two competitions in Planica and one in Chaux-Neuve in February and March 2018 .

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2018 in Kandersteg , Switzerland , Mogel finished eighth in the individual competition. In the team competition he finished fourth with Bor Pavlovčič , Domen Prevc and Aljaž Osterc and thus just missed a podium. In the mixed team competition he was fifth with Katra Komar , Jerneja Brecl and Domen Prevc.

On July 8, 2018, Mogel made his debut in Kranj in the Continental Cup , where he was disqualified in the course of the competition. In the following months he then took part in other competitions of the Summer Continental Cup 2018/19 . He finished third in his only third COC competition on August 18, 2018 in Wisła, and thus his first podium finish in the Continental Cup. Overall, he achieved two third and two second places in the Summer Continental Cup as well as second place in the overall summer ranking. He also came third in the overall ranking of the Beskydy Tour 2018 .

Mogel made his World Cup debut on November 24, 2018 in Kuusamo , Finland , when he won his first points as 24th on the Rukatunturi hill . The following day he achieved his best World Cup result to date with 20th place. On January 6, 2019, he was second in the Continental Cup competition in the Vogtland Arena in Klingenthal for the first time in winter on a Continental Cup podium. He was then nominated for the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2019 in Lahti, Finland . With his compatriots Aljaž Osterc , Jan Bombek and Jernej Presecnik , he won the bronze medal in the junior team competition. In the team mixed competition and in the individual jumping, he finished fifth.
