Eva Ganster (born March 30, 1978 in Kitzbühel , Tyrol , Austria ) is a former Austrian ski jumper and today's sports scientist .

Career

Ganster is the daughter of the veterinarian Edgar Ganster, who is involved in women's ski jumping in both the Austrian Ski Association and the International Ski Association (FIS). She attended high school at the boarding school for ski athletes in Stams in Tyrol. In the early 1990s, the FIS did not want to allow any women’s competitions, which is why Ganster was only allowed to appear repeatedly as a pre-wrestler in men’s competitions, but showed remarkable performances. Among other things, she also competed as a pre-wrestler at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer .

In February 1997 Eva Ganster was the first woman to jump over a ski jump on the Kulm in Bad Mitterndorf / Tauplitz in Styria. With the achieved distance of 167 meters, she set the first world record in women's ski flying and thus entered the “ Guinness Book of Records ”. In 1998, an unofficial women's championship was held as part of the Junior World Championship, in which she reached second place.

Eva Ganster was also active in women's football . In the 2003/04 season she was crowned top scorer in the 2nd Division West, Austria's second-highest women's division, with eleven goals as a player in the Zirl sports club .

In the spring of 2005, Ganster officially ended her career as an active ski jumper. Since October 2005 she has Magistra of sports science.
