Magnus of Fabrateria vetus
Magnus of Fabrateria vetus , also Magnus of Trani († in the 3rd or 4th century in Fabrateria vetus , today: Ceccano in Latium ) was a holy martyr .
He was originally bishop in the Apulian port city of Trani , but had to flee from there because of the persecution of Christians . He then worked in the Ciociaria region east of Rome and, according to legend, suffered his martyrdom in Fabrateria vetus. A martyrology from the year 451 is named by Magnus on August 19 with the location of Fabrateria vetus. A church was dedicated to him there. The current Martyrologium Romanum also names a martyr Magnus of Fabrateria vetus in Latium in second place for August 19 . In this respect, August 19th is the saint's feast day .
Magnus was widely worshiped in Lower Lazio. His relics were transferred from Fondi to Veroli . When the city was threatened by the Saracens in the 9th century , his relics were transferred to Anagni or, according to legend, also to Esens in Friesland.
