Julian Musiol (born April 4, 1986 in Suhl ) is a former German ski jumper .

Career

Musiol, son of the former bobsledder Bogdan Musiol , started for SC Motor Zella-Mehlis and made his international debut at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2002 in Schonach in the Black Forest , where he was 36th. In January 2003 he started for the first time in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . With 22nd place in Planica , he also achieved his first Continental points straight away.

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2003 in Sollefteå Musiol improved to 16th place in the individual and reached 11th place with the team in team jumping. After mixed results in the Continental Cup and in junior jumping he succeeded in winning the bronze medal behind the teams from Austria and Poland at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2004 in Stryn , together with his teammates Patrick Kaltenbach , Tobias Bogner and Mark Krauspenhaar . In the individual competition he narrowly missed another medal and finished fifth.

In January 2005 Musiol succeeded for the first time in a Continental Cup competition in Lauscha to jump to a top place in tenth place. At the Summer Continental Cup in Lillehammer , he achieved his best individual result to date, finishing eighth. After he achieved a good 14th place in the second competition, he got a starting place at the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2005 . In Predazzo and Hakuba , however, he clearly missed the points. He then went back to the Continental Cup in October. In Lake Placid he surprised with a good fifth place.

On December 29, 2005 Musiol made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup in Oberstdorf as part of the national group . As 37th he just missed the points and therefore went back to the Continental Cup. Already in Sapporo he received another place in the World Cup squad. With 22nd place he also made it into the World Cup points in the second competition. He then traveled with the team to the World Cup in Willingen . However, there he missed the points again. Back in the Continental Cup, Musiol regularly reached the top 10.

At the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2006 , Musiol managed to win four points with 27th place in Val di Fiemme and, after further jumps with no points, he finished 74th in the Grand Prix overall ranking. On February 24, 2007, he won his first Continental Cup competition in Oberhof . At the end of the season, Musiol again competed in two World Cup competitions in Oslo , but never got past 40th place. In the spring of 2007 he began his correspondence course in management at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences .

At the beginning of the 2008/09 season Musiol achieved another podium finish in Rovaniemi with third place. In January 2009 he succeeded in Sapporo again a 22nd place in the World Cup. It remained his last place in the World Cup points. In January 2010 he reached third place in the same place in the Continental Cup and thus a podium place. As a result, he stayed in the B national squad and was only used occasionally in World Cups, but often missed the qualification.

In 2011 Musiol ended his active ski jumping career.
