Mika Schwann (born July 30, 1999 ) is an Austrian ski jumper .

Career

Schwann made his debut in an international competition on July 27, 2013, when he finished eleventh out of 58 participants in a junior competition on the Adlerschanze in Hinterzarten . After jumping in the lower ranks in the Alpine Cup in the 2014/15 season , he made his debut in the FIS Cup on July 11, 2015 , but continued to be used in the Alpine Cup in particular. In another competition in the FIS Cup on March 11, 2016, he jumped on the Čerťák normal hill in Harrachov, Czech Republic, in second place behind his compatriot Simon Greiderer and thus achieved his podium place in this competition.

On 17./18. In September 2016 he made his first appearance in the Continental Cup on the Brunnentalschanze in Stams . If he was disqualified on September 17th, he narrowly missed the points on the following day with 33rd place. Although he was unable to score in other Continental Cup appearances in Titisee-Neustadt in January 2017 , he was nominated for the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2017 in Park City in the United States and, after finishing 20th in the individual competition with his teammate Markus Rupitsch , Clemens Leitner and Janni Reisenauer took third place in the team competition. In August 2017 he took part in the Beskydy Tour and achieved his first Continental Cup points as 22nd in the final competition on the Horečky area in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm in the Czech Republic , which he won in September 2017 at the two competitions on the Brunnentalschanze in Stams and on the Trambulina Valea Cărbunării in Râşnov, Romania, followed by four more points. The 15th place on September 9, 2017 in Stams was his best Continental Cup result to date.

After he failed to reach the points in December 2017 in Engelberg, Switzerland, he was initially only used in the Apen and FIS Cups. Nevertheless, he was allowed to take part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2018 in Kandersteg, Switzerland . After 15th place in the individual competition, he and his teammates Jan Hörl , Maximilian Lienher and Clemens Leitner won a place in the team competition and thus his second international medal. After single-digit results in the Alpine Cup and the FIS Cup in February and March 2018, he was nominated for the final competition of the 2017/18 Continental Cup season in Tchaikovsky , Russia , and achieved 17th place in jumping on the Sneschinka . In the summer of 2018 he started again in the lower class, but was then nominated for the two Grand Prix competitions on September 22 and 23, 2018 on the Trambulina Valea Cărbunării in Râșnov and achieved his first points with places 23 and 17 highest level of performance. He also qualified for the last competition of the series in Hinzenbach , but missed the points in front of his home crowd in 39th place.
