Thorleif Schjelderup (born January 20, 1920 in Oslo ; † May 28, 2006 there ) was a Norwegian ski jumper .

Career

Schjelderup was the son of the famous mountaineer Ferdinand Schjelderup and Marie Leigh Vogt. From 1940 to 1944 he was married to the actress Sossen Krohg . The marriage resulted in two sons. In 1948 he married the soprano Anne Brown , with whom he had a daughter.

Schjelderup was the first Norwegian ski jumper to jump over 100 meters (in Planica ). After he won the silver medal in Tistedalen in 1947 and the bronze medal in Strinda at the Norwegian Championships in 1948 , he was part of the squad for the Olympic Games in the same year. At the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , he won the bronze medal behind his fellow countrymen Petter Hugsted and Birger Ruud .

After the end of his active sports career, he was national coach of the Norwegian ski jumpers from 1957 to 1962. In the 1970s he published a number of books on sports, travel and the Norwegian nature.
