The Große Ruhesteinschanze is a ski jump on the Ruhestein near Baiersbronn .

history

In 1908 a small 20 meter ski jump was built on the small hill in Baiersbronn. Jumps of up to 30 meters were possible. The Große Ruhesteinschanze was built in 1923 and was inaugurated a year later. Up until the championships in 1933, the hill was rebuilt several times. For the German championships it was extended to a 50 meter hill. Heini Klopfer played a key role in the renovation work for the Nordic Championships in 1953 . To create the new Ruhesteinschanze, 2500 cubic meters of rock were blasted and around 5000 m³ of earth moved around the facilities. Ten years later the hill was changed again for the Nordic Championships in 1964 . After a modernization in 1983, the architect Ulrich Klumpp designed the ski jumps K85, K60, K43 and K17 in 1994/95, which still exist today. A snowmaking system was added in 2002.

Since 1996, several competitions in the B-World Cup of Nordic Combined , as well as the Women's Continental Cup since 2005 , have been held on the Great Hill HS90 .
