Long Island AVA (recognized since May 15, 2001) is a wine-growing region in the US state of New York . The area is located in the administrative areas of Nassau County and Suffolk County and includes the entire peninsula of Long Island and some offshore islands.

The AVA was only founded in 2001, 10 to 15 years after the recognition of the subordinate designations of origin of the North Fork of Long Island AVA and The Hamptons, Long Island AVA . On the one hand, this took into account the fact that wineries located outside of these sub-regions should also be given a locally-specific marketing platform and, on the other hand, the Long Island AVA enables the blending of vines from both sub-regions.

The microclimate of the vineyards is positively influenced by the water masses of the Atlantic Ocean of Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay and benefits the wine .
