Christian Heim (born February 21, 1993 ) is a German ski jumper .

Career

Heim, who competes for SC Auerbach , made his international debut in October 2008 at the age of only 15 after winning the German Cup in the Alpine Ski Jumping Cup . Heim was not able to convince either here or in the following junior competitions. At the German Junior Championship in July 2009, Heim landed in ninth place. In the 2009/10 Alpine Cup season, too, he initially had problems asserting himself. He then switched to the FIS Cup . Already in the first competition in Lauscha he surprised with a fourth place. Also in the second competition he showed a good result with 14th place. As a result, however, he had to compete in the Alpine Cup again, but as before he did not jump to the top positions. Heim secured the title of German youth championship with the team in 2010. In the German Cup Heim was able to achieve a good performance again and took a victory and a second place in March.

After the summer of 2010 and the beginning of the winter season 2010/11 went rather badly, Heim achieved a top 20 placement in the Alpencup for the first time in January 2011 in Hinterzarten . He also succeeded in doing this in Chaux-Neuve . In January 2011 he switched back to the FIS Cup squad. Already in Predazzo he was placed in the points. He was able to further improve his performance and celebrated his first win in this series on February 26, 2012 in Baiersbronn .

Heim was unable to repeat the success of February in the weeks and months that followed. Often he only achieved placements outside of the points in the Alpine and FIS Cups. After he finished eleventh and tenth in the Alpine Cup in Seefeld in Tirol in December, however, he was nominated for the B-team in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . He made his debut in this series in Engelberg on December 27, 2012.

In his second Continental Cup competition, Heim was able to win his first Continental Cup points with 29th place. In his third competition in Sapporo , he surprised with an eighth place. In the two following competitions in Sapporo he was also in the top twenty in the end. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Liberec , Heim jumped to 40th place on the normal hill. After the trial round he was still in eighth place, but unfavorable wind conditions made him land at 87 meters in the jump.

After two failed competitions in Planica , Heim in Iron Mountain surprised at his first competition outside of Europe with a third place, which was also his first podium in the Continental Cup. Since this was the only success, however, he changed again in March at the end of the season for two competitions in the Alpine Cup and two competitions in the FIS Cup. He finished the Continental Cup in 44th place overall.
