Maja Vtič [ ʍ'titʃ ] (born January 27, 1988 in Novo mesto ) is a Slovenian ski jumper and lives in Mirna .
Career
Vtič, who starts for the SD Zabrdje club and is trained by Damjan Šemrl , made her international debut on February 19, 2003 at the FIS jumping competition in Breitenberg . On July 23, 2004, she made her debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . Already in the first two competitions in Park City she made it into the points with 18th place. On February 12, 2005 she made her first jump on the podium with second place on the Große Ruhesteinschanze in Baiersbronn . After further good results, she finished the 2004/05 season in 8th place in the overall Continental Cup ranking.
At the Junior World Championships 2007 in Tarvisio , she won the bronze medal on the normal hill behind Lisa Demetz and Katie Willis , after finishing fourth at the 2007 Winter Universiade in Pragelato, also in Italy . Even after that, their performance went up again. On February 17, 2008, she won a Continental Cup competition for the first time in Breitenberg. At the Junior World Championships 2008 in Zakopane she reached 15th place. Due to the Continental Cup points she achieved, she reached 4th place overall at the end of the 2007/08 season .
The 2008/2009 season also started with good results for the Slovenian. In December 2008 she was able to celebrate another victory in Vancouver and also achieved placings in the top ten in the following competitions. After a fall at the Continental Cup in Zakopane, she had to take a long break and so did not start in the 2009/2010 season.
At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo she reached fifth place from the normal hill. She had already finished fourth at the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey . On December 3, 2011, she made her debut in the World Cup in Lillehammer , was 42 and did not make it into the second round. In the further course of the season she came into the second round in every competition. In the overall standings she came in 12th place. In the first mixed team of the 2012/13 season in Lillehammer, she jumped to seventh place with the Slovenian team.
At the Slovenian Championships in 2012 , she won the silver medal behind Katja Požun and ahead of Urša Bogataj . At the 2013 World Championships in Predazzo , Italy , she finished 19th. At the end of the year, she reached fifth place at the 2013 Winter Universiade, which was also held in Predazzo .
On February 1, 2014, Vtič jumped to third place in Hinzenbach and reached her first World Cup podium. At the Olympic premiere of women's ski jumping, she finished sixth, making her the best Slovenian. At the 2015 World Championships in Falun , Sweden , she finished 13th in the individual competition and was fifth with the Slovenian team.
She celebrated her first World Cup victory on February 13, 2016 at the Home World Cup on the Logarska dolina in Ljubno . At the Slovenian Championships in Planica in 2016 , she won the gold medal ahead of Ema Klinec and Eva Logar . At the 2017 World Championships in Lahti , Finland , she finished 17th.
