Katja Požun (born April 7, 1993 in Trbovlje ) is a Slovenian ski jumper .
Career
Požun, who starts for SK Zagorje, made her international debut at the age of only eleven in the 2004/05 season. After two FIS races in August 2004, she started in the Continental Cup from February 2005. In her first and only competition in Breitenberg, she achieved eleven points with 20th place and finished 47th in the overall Continental Cup ranking. Also in summer 2005 she was successful several times. So she managed to jump into the top ten for the first time in Klingenthal . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2006 in Kranj , she reached 14th place in the singles from the normal hill. After the Junior World Championships, her performance decreased. She jumped into the points without exception, but Požun couldn't get more than 21st place. Also in the following season 2006/2007 she came only once over a 20th place and reached the 19th place in Meinerzhagen .
At the Nordic Junior Ski World Championships 2007 in Tarvisio Požun jumped from the normal hill again to only 14th place. From December 2007, an increase in performance was noticeable when she reached eleventh place twice in Notodden in Norway and ninth in January 2008 in Toblach . Surprisingly, she was able to win the bronze medal in the individual at the Junior World Championships in Zakopane in 2008 behind Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Elena Runggaldier . Despite this success, she then disappeared from the international stage for three years.
In July 2011 Požun made her comeback in the Continental Cup in Szczyrk and won points again straight away. At the start of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup 2011/12 , Požun surprised with a win and third place in Rovaniemi . She was then nominated for the Ski Jumping World Cup , where she made her debut on December 3, 2012 in Lillehammer and finished seventh in her first competition among the top ten. In all other World Cups in January and February 2012, without exception, she only achieved top 10 placements. In Hinzenbach she was on the podium for the first time with third place.
At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2012 in Erzurum , Požun and the team again won silver, but disappointed in the individual jumping with a 19th place. Despite this poor performance, she was still part of the World Cup squad and continued to get good results. At the Slovenian Championships in 2012 , she won the national title ahead of Maja Vtič and Urša Bogataj . In the summer of 2012, she kept her performances constant and was on the podium again with second place at the Ski Jumping Grand Prix in Almaty .
At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec , she and the team succeeded in winning the gold medal after taking bronze in the individual competition. After two tenth places in Sapporo in the World Cup, she managed to achieve single-digit placings again a short time later. In Ljubno , Slovenia , she narrowly missed the podium with fourth place.
In February 2013 she was part of the team at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme and jumped from the normal hill to 18th place. On the same hill Požun won the individual jumping at the Universiade in December and was third in the mixed team competition together with Mitja Mežnar .
At the Olympic premiere of women's ski jumping, she finished eleventh.
