The Średnia Krokiew (German: 'middle rafter') in Zakopane consist of several ski jumping hills . The facility includes a smaller category K 35 hill (Maleńka Krokiew), a medium hill of category K 65 (Mała Krokiew) and a normal hill of category K 85 (Średnia Krokiew). The jumps are covered with plastic matting.
The largest ski jumping hill in Zakopane, the Wielka Krokiew , and the Adaś do not belong to this facility .
All three ski jumps K 35, K 65 and K 85 were built in 1950 and are very important training hills for the clubs from Zakopane. Next to the K 35 hill there used to be a K 30 hill, which was not rebuilt after the renovation in 2004. In 2008 the Junior World Championships were supposed to take place in Szczyrk , but due to lack of snow it was held on the Średnia Krokiew.
A demolition and new construction of the Średnia-Korkiew ski jumping complex had been planned since 2013 in order to be able to host world championships again in Zakopane. The dismantling work finally began in spring 2019. The modernization is to be completed in June 2021 and will cost between 40 and 50 million złoty (between 9.5 and 12 million euros ). In addition to the modernized four ski jumps, a K 25 children's hill is also to be built.
