From 1997 Norčič was part of the Slovenian contingent for the Continental Cup (COC). After good performance there, he jumped in the ski jumping World Cup for the first time on December 12, 1998 . He finished his first competition in Oberhof in 41st place. A week later he achieved World Cup points for the first time with a 26th place in the competition in Harrachov . A year later he was able to achieve his best individual result in the World Cup with 16th place in the jumping in Zakopane . At the end of the 1999/2000 World Cup season , he was 58th in the overall World Cup ranking. After the season, however, he only jumped in the Continental Cup and was only placed in three World Cup competitions, but could not achieve any success there and mostly ended up in the back places. In the Continental Cup, however, he was able to win his first jumping on January 20, 2002 in Ishpeming . Overall, he won three competitions in the Continental Cup in his career. His best COC season was the 2001/02 season , where he finished 11th in the overall standings. His last international jumping competition so far was the COC jumping competition on February 13, 2005 in Brotterode . Since then he has only been active on a national level.
After initially being the assistant coach of the US men's ski jumping team for some time, he is currently working as their head coach.

His father Bogdan Norčič was also a successful ski jumper.
