Bogdan Norčič (born September 19, 1953 in Kranj ; † April 6, 2004 in Cerklje na Gorenjskem , Slovenia ) was a Yugoslav ski jumper .

Career

Norčič started ski jumping in 1971. He caused a stir in 1977 when he flew 181 meters as a forerunner on the Planica ski jumping hill . He would have exceeded the world record of that time by five meters, but he could not stand the jump. From 1979 he jumped in the World Cup and collected several points that brought him 20th place in the overall standings. In doing so, he was able to achieve respectable results. He got his two podium finishes in 1980 in Sapporo when he finished second and one day later, third. For Yugoslavia he also took part in the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck and the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . He later worked as a trainer. In 2004 Bogdan Norčič died after a long and serious illness.

Private

His son Bine Norčič was also active in the Ski Jumping World Cup between 1998 and 2000 and is now the head coach of the US national team.
