Dieter Grob

Dieter Grob (born March 21, 1949 in Zurich ) is a Swiss spine surgeon.

Life

After completing his studies and training as an orthopedist , he specialized in spinal surgery (Kantonsspital St. Gallen / Schulthess Klinik Zurich). From 1987 to 2010 he was chief physician in the department for spinal and spinal cord surgery at the Schulthess Clinic. Grob was a co-founder of the first Spine Unit in Switzerland (orthopedics, neurology, rheumatology). From 1999 to 2010 he was Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Zurich .

Grob was President of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS) in 2007/2008, the Spine Society of Europe (SSE) from 2002/2003 and the Cervical Spine Research Society, European Section (CSRS) in 1997/1999.

He was the initiator of the first quality control spine surgery in Switzerland (WS-ZH); this became Spine Tango in 2002.
