Iraschko pride 2016 in Hinzenbach

Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (born November 21, 1983 in Eisenerz , Styria ) is an Austrian ski jumper and soccer goalkeeper . Her greatest success so far is winning the individual competition at the 2011 World Championships in Oslo .

Career as a soccer player

Iraschko started playing football in 1993 at WSV Eisenerz. In 2003 she moved to the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga for the Innsbruck AC and after the dissolution of the women's team in 2006 for FC Wacker Innsbruck . In 2008 , 2009 and 2010 she was Austrian runner- up with the team behind the series champion SV Neulengbach , in 2009 and 2012 she was in the Austrian cup final.

Career as a ski jumper

Iraschko has been a ski jumper since 1995. In the years 2000 to 2002, 2005 and 2010 she won the overall ranking of the FIS Ladies Grand Prix five times . In 2003 she set the record for what is probably the longest jump by a woman. When ski flying on the Kulm in Tauplitz , she reached a distance close to the 200 meter mark. Since no distance measurement was active, the jump is not counted as a world record. She is multiple Austrian ski jumping champion and has won numerous individual competitions on an international level. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2009 , where women's ski jumping was held for the first time, she was fourth and at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 she was able to win her first world championship.

In January 2011 she began her four-year training as a top athlete with the Federal Police . On December 3, 2011, she made her debut in the World Cup in Lillehammer , came fourth, was able to win two World Cup competitions in Hinzenbach in the first year of the World Cup and was second in the overall World Cup. During the World Cup competition on January 12, 2013 in Hinterzarten , she fell and tore the anterior cruciate ligament and both menisci of the left knee. The comeback took place in December 2013.

At the 2014 Winter Olympics , she won the silver medal behind the German Carina Vogt in the first women's Olympic jumping on the normal hill . A little later, Iraschko-Stolz had to end the 2013/14 season prematurely due to a new meniscus tear. On May 15, 2014, Iraschko-Stolz was named Styria's Sportswoman of the Year .

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun 2015 , Iraschko-Stolz won the bronze medal on the normal hill and took fourth place in the mixed team competition. In the 2014/15 World Cup she was five times victorious in 13 competitions and achieved five other podium placements. At the last competition of the season in Oslo , fifth place was enough for her to win the overall World Cup for the first time - ahead of the Japanese Sara Takanashi .

In the 2015/16 season she won two more World Cup competitions and jumped on the podium a total of eleven times. In the other competitions, she only did not make it into the top ten once. Despite these results and a personal record of 1139 points, she was only second in the overall World Cup behind the superior Sara Takanashi. In the World Cup season 2016/17 she was less successful. She achieved four podium finishes and finished seventh in the overall World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2017 , she finished ninth in the individual competition. In the mixed team competition, she and Michael Hayböck , Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Stefan Kraft won the silver medal in second behind Germany.

After Iraschko-Stolz had an operation on her right knee after a cartilage fracture in April 2017, she had to undergo another knee operation in November 2017 while preparing for the Olympic season. So she missed the first part of the 2017/18 season and was only able to start the season on January 20 and 21, 2018 in Planica as part of the Continental Cup . This weekend she was able to win both competitions. A week later she made her comeback in the World Cup in Ljubno . After finishing fourth on the first day, she won the second jumping and celebrated the 13th World Cup victory of her career. After her World Cup comeback, she started at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , where she finished sixth in the individual competition on the normal hill . After the Winter Olympics, she won both COC competitions in Brotterode and achieved three other podium places in the World Cup. Although she missed much of the season, she still ended up seventh in the overall World Cup.

The 2018/19 season started again with an injury. On November 26, 2018, she fell during training for the World Cup opener in Lillehammer . However, she was able to take part in the two competitions on the normal hill on November 30th and December 1st and finished eleventh and sixth. At the next competition on the large hill, she even achieved a podium finish with third place. On January 12, 2019, she won her first season competition on the large hill in Sapporo and a week later on January 18, 2019 also on the Zaō normal hill in Yamagata . In the team competition on the following day, she and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger , Eva Pinkelnig and Chiara Hölzl took second place behind the German team. At the 2019 World Championships in Seefeld in Tirol , the team with the same line-up was able to win the silver medal behind Germany again. In the individual competition she won the bronze medal behind the Norwegian Maren Lundby and the German Katharina Althaus . In the final mixed team competition she was runner-up behind the German team together with Eva Pinkelnig, Philipp Aschenwald and Stefan Kraft .

At the start of the 2019/20 season in Lillehammer , Iraschko-Stolz only reached ranks 23 and 15. According to her own statements, she jumped “just badly” and combined this with a criticism of the coaching team around head coach Harald Rodlauer . Although she had to reckon with internal consequences after her frustrated interview, she was nominated for the second World Cup weekend in Klingenthal , where she improved with consistently strong jumps and sixth place in individual jumping. In the further course of the season she made it onto the podium twice in third place. In addition, together with Marita Kramer , Chiara Hölzl and Eva Pinkelnig, she was part of the first Austrian team victory at the Zaō-Schanze in Yamagata .

Private

Irashko's lesbian orientation was first mentioned in the press in February 2012. On August 31, 2013, she entered into a registered partnership with her partner in Innsbruck , which is also a socio-political statement for both of them.
