The ski jumps on Mount Ještěd ( Jeschken in German ) in Liberec in North Bohemia ( Reichenberg in German ) are always the venue for World Cup competitions . Competitions were held here in 2009 when Liberec hosted the 47th Nordic World Ski Championships .

history

Already at the beginning of the last century Liberec was a center of skiing. There were already several ski jumps in various parts of the city in the 1920s.

The first ski jumps were built on the 1012 m high mountain Ještěd in 1966. It was a K90 and a K70 ski jump that have shared the landing slope since then. For the Junior World Championships in 1976 both jumps were rebuilt and received a judge tower.

In the 1980s there was also a K50 hill, which could also be jumped at times in summer. At that time, numerous international competitions, such as the so-called Bohemia Tournee and competitions in Nordic Combined, were held in front of a large audience.

In 1992 the ski jumps were modernized again, and a ski jump was added later.

For the 2009 World Championships, a new judges tower was built and a floodlight system was installed. In addition, all four jumps were covered with plastic matting and can therefore be used all year round.
