Izumi Yamada ( Japanese 山田 い ず み , Yamada Izumi ; born August 28, 1978 in Sapporo ) is a former Japanese ski jumper .

Career

Yamada began ski jumping at the age of six and was appointed to the national team in 2002. In 2003 she started her international career at FIS jumping . Until 2004 she was able to jump into the top ten several times. On February 8, 2005, Yamada made her debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Schönwald in the Black Forest . With 16th place she jumped straight into the points. In her second competition four days later in Baiersbronn , she managed to make it into the top ten with seventh place. On March 2, 2006, with third place in Zao, she made her first step onto the podium. Also in the 2006/07 season she regularly jumped to the top positions and in the end reached 10th place in the Continental Cup points. On August 17, 2008 Yamada won her first and only Continental Cup show jumping test in Bischofshofen . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 she reached 25th place on the normal hill. After the 2008/09 season, she ended her active ski jumping career.
